Last night on the Internet, I came across a documentary coming out in American cinemas called 'Bully'.
It is a documentary following the lives of 5 middle school kids who are bullied & their families & how the bullying is affecting their lives.
There is just one catch.
It has been give an R-Rating in the States, because it contains the use of "many swear words"
One girl Katy Butler who has been affected by bullying was very quick to create a petition on change.org to get the rating down to PG-13 & her petition has been supported by Demi Lovato as well as many others in the public eye.
What do you think ?
The first text in the trailer reads "13 million kids will be bullied this year in America".
Do these people who make the rating decisions not get it ?!
Sensor the "swear words".
But you know what, I wouldn't even do that, because those "swear words" are a pretty significant part of bullying.
I personally think this documentary should be shown to kids.
Especially 7, 8 & 9 year olds, because that is when bullying starts.
I wouldn't show it to 5 or 6 year olds though as they could pick on up the wrong way.
Katy Butler's petition has had hundreds of thousands of signatures & I hope the rating is changed soo the film can be used to show kids who could either be bullies or be bullied in the future.
