Evaporate

Hello ! Long time, no see !

I haven't been on in here in about two weeks which is probably the longest that I've lasted without blogging ever - yes, I couldn't even stay away during state exams two years back ! At the moment, I'm not really feeling the whole blog // Internet // anywhere thing. As per usual, it could be said that my absence and lack of motivation is down to my heavily anxious and exhausted state but also the fact that I have so many ideas yet it feels as if I have no outlet. This may be responded to with "but Grace, you have the Internet as an outlet" since I am forever yelling from metaphorical rooftops about how brilliant an outlet the online planet serves as for us creatives. But what I mean is that I live in a small-ish town, I cannot handle any social situation whatsoever, I am still stuck in school and the most of the people I know who are into blogging, photography, etc. are all online and living in different parts of country !

And it feels ungrateful to say that because if you're a frequent reader of Dainty Sprinkles or know me in real life, it's shouldn't be a surprise when I say that I appreciate all that so much - there are so many great things about living in a small town near both beautiful landscape and the sea, I try to embrace my lack of social skills and confidence, I view education with such gratitude and respect and I embrace having different interests from those around me ! But on the flipside, things such as living in a little town (I don't care how many people live here - there is still not a lot on !) and not being able to make use of any social skills I obtain can be draining, especially when I have so many ideas and all I can do is draw or write them down on paper - I can't drive them beyond the idea phase ! School is also draining right now because as much as I love all my subjects, I do not know how half the content taught in them will benefit me this time in two years and the more I view school with a negative attitude, the more I view the nature and atmosphere of the place as very competitive, pressurising and just a complete trap. And there's my essay on why I can't find the motivation or a reason to blog !

As for my outfit, I tried something different yesterday; it's all quite baggy and I am still not entirely sure of how I feel about the result. Something's been niggling at me for a while now, telling me to wear my Converse, so I did and felt like 2009 Kristen Stewart ! I haven't worn my wet-look skirt nor these tights in ages and I also wanted to wear my blue jumper - again, hasn't been worn in a few weeks - so it became my weekend mission to team them up in some kind of outfit. This is where my green crotchet-style tank top comes in - I bought it almost two summers ago in Penneys and have rarely worn it since. If anything, it's more like a beach cover-up but I always thought that it would look cute and granny-like over wooly jumper which is exactly what happened yesterday ! The jumper in question is from the men's section of Penneys which is why it it's quite bulky but I think it all came together alright in the end. On a final note, I'm still messing around with manual mode on mam's camera and I have a bit too much grá (grá is the focal {word.} for 'love' as gaeilge {in Irish.}.) for the colour blue right now, especially in photographs, which is why the blue tone in these photographs may have turned out a little too strong !

This month was quite enjoyable, in terms of listening to music ! I listened to lots of Borns again and highly recommend looking up any of his acoustic sessions on YouTube - they are amazing and an acoustic album needs to be released ! At this stage, I really can't decide between whether I want his voice, instrument playing skills or hair more. All three please ! I also spent a lot of the moment listening to the CDs I bought with Christmas money. Out of the four of them, Years and Years' 'Communion and Led Zeppelin's 'III' are my favourites. Both the albums are of such diverse ranges of style, etc. which is why they have been on repeat for the duration of the month ! I finally got around to looking up Foo Fighters' new stuff and it is so much better than Sonic Highways - at least in my opinion. A lot of people have been saying it's quite similar to their old stuff too, which I definitely agree with. Finally, I've been listening to Silver and Gold the whole time for the past week after finding a cover of it by a guy from Degrassi (we won't start on my 'binge watching' of Degrassi - working my way back through all the seasons !) and in a way, I kind of prefer the cover but I've also been listening to a lot of City and Colour's stuff and it's so amazing, very acoustic and folk. Basically sums up the type of music I've mostly listened to all month. I did start listening to a new song last night // this morning but tomorrow's the first day of February so we'll leave it until next month's playlist !

LAVENDER HUES ON A SUNDAY AFTERNOON

There is no real purpose for this post except for the fact that the weather on Sunday was so so beautiful that I couldn't go back inside without taking a few photographs ! Plum and Truffle are adorable when it comes to cameras - I think it's the noises that they like - and Plum was being even cuter, although slightly irritating, as every time that I was on my hunkers, whether observing or taking a photography, she was chasing after my coat the entire time ! Very funny but at the same time, not my coat please. Please don't eat the coat.

Meanwhile in other aspects of life, we finally found the Netflix password which resulted in me watching close to two seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine over the course of the weekend and this evening, typing up a list on WordPad of films that I plan on watching. It's actually fascinating, the productivity, when you look through it in advance, rather than scrolling aimlessly for ridiculous lengths of time when the time comes that you actually want to watch a film ! What's also interesting is the number of Irish films - obviously on the Irish Netflix - that I never realised were available on there. Cue celebratory llama dance. It's been too long since I used that one. Two years maybe ? I didn't write down any TV shows since we're already watching a good few that are on the telly at the moment - Silent Witness // Death in Paradise // Rebellion - and I spend too much time watching TV shows so I'm probably best off leaving them aside for the moment. I'm also going through a phase (trying not to use any 'it's not a phase mom' jokes.) at the moment where all I do is listen to one singer - Borns - and all other music is supposed to be feck off, which is the complete opposite to this time last year when I found the 'similar artists' section of Last FM and listened to lots of Two Door Cinema Club and also bopped dramatically around my room, listening to 'Everlong'. Don't ask me how one 'bops dramatically', it doesn't make sense to me either but it's the only description that I can come up with.

Splashes with Black

Currently listening to : Seeing Stars | Careless | Without | 10,000 Emerald Pools

Two outfit posts in a row - what is this madness ! I wasn't planning on blogging this weekend because I'm trying to get my sh*t together, regarding school, my opinions of myself, general teenager-iness and this blog itself and my YouTube but here I am ! Because of my age, I'm obviously in constant conflict with my opinions of my self and my opinions of the world (I HATE EVERYTHING ! GOSH MOM, IT'S NOT A PHASE - I REALLY HATE EVERYTHING AND I'M A CRAPPY PERSON !) but right now I am really questioning and criticising everything I have done, do and will do with my head screaming "GRACE, WHAT ARE YOU EVEN TURNING INTO !" which is really not helping so I'm just here waiting for the day that I am no longer an angsty teenager.

For ages I've been thinking that an all black outfit with this green coat would look so cool - culottes with this jumper in an ideal world - so I've been pairing up my basic black jumper and wetlook skirt. I love how simple the combination of a single bold colour and a single monochrome colour looks, yet it could still be described as a 'statement' kind of style. It also reminds me of the style of either the 1940s, 50s, 60s or 70s - I can't really define which - and  my nails are painted a kind of coffee colour at the moment which then gave me the idea of adding the scarf because of the bold and neutral colours, mixed with the white ! For some reason, the colours made me think of 70s fashion again, such as this and this. I've no idea why but I'm happy enough to mix all the colours regardless ! The mixing and matching of it all is strangely pleasing.

This is also the first outfit post in which the photos were taken using manual settings. I was outside for ages, figuring out how to adjust the brightness to a level where you could actually see the subjects and I'm just so happy with how it all turned out ! I think I get more excited when I succeed in experimenting with the settings on mam's camera than when I do well in a test in school, Oops.

One last thing before I go, Aveen of The Random Life of Aveen and I finally filmed AwkwardSprinkles videos on Tuesday ! I haven't actually got around to editing and uploading mine yet but we'll probably have both our videos up soon so they'll be making an apperance on here once they're up - prepare for two vidos of fangirling, complaining and goat puns !

Have a lovely week and thank you for the lovely comments on my last post too !

Before The New Year

Hello // Howaya // Dia dhuit // Salut // こんにちは 2016 !
I just wrote 2015 instead of 2016 and had to undo and redo which will probably become my routine of writing out the date for the next month or so.

Yesterday evening, my family and I went out for dinner - of course eating pizza is the best way to spend New Year's Eve ! It stopped raining for the day so instead, the temperatures decided to drop, meaning that I got to layer ! Yay ! Sarcastic yay. I have not got a clue how to layer without looking like a five year old but I think I may have slightly got away with it this time, once I put on my jacket. My blue Penneys dress is brilliant because ... wait for it ... POCKETS ! It's shrunk in the wash a bit, which is kind of crappy as it feels strange now but it's still comfortable to wear. I thought the colour of my New Look suede top would match the dark blue except the style of the strappy top with the long sleeves didn't really look right so I wore my TK Maxx leather jacket for the first time in months over it. Ten out of ten for warmth and cosiness, as well as my usual green jacket over it ! Related but unrelated, I wore the pink, blue, silver speckled topcoat polish over turquoise on my nails because I thought it would look festive !

The new year is here - the only day of the year anyone can be sure of the date - and although it probably won't be the most exciting of years, I'm still turning seventeen, can learn how to drive (probably not the best of ideas so we'll avoid that.), will hopefully get a summer job and towards the end of the year, I'll be entering my last year of secondary school. That last point makes me want to hibernate for a year and a half but at the same time, I kind of wish I could say that I was finishing school in 2016 ! Don't do Transition Year, kids. Jokes. Make your own decision on that one !

I'm off now to watch even more telly because this evening has been the best one for decent programmes that there's been in a while - a double bill of Eastenders and a new episode of Sherlock, as well as an episode of Mrs. Brown's Boys !

What is this madness !
