Currently listening to : Space Song | Wishes

Another outfit post ! Why do you do this, Grace, why do you do this ! Whilst busy in an attempt to revise for summer exams, I'm not particularly happy with the photos of the outdoors that I've taken recently - they're all a little too bright and same old - so have yourself a merry laugh at my outfit instead ! I did not just half-parody the lyrics of a Christmas song. It's been almost a week since I last rambled all here and there are so many hilarious or terrifying (it's all a matter of perspective ! *unsure laugh*.) scenarios that I could talk about that I forget half of them. It reminds me that I really need to start using my Twitter again. Or just a diary if it's too hilarious or terrifying to explain online.

I wore this outfit to the cinema on Saturday with my leather jacket as there is never a reason not to wear a "creeping it real" (much pun, such wow.) t-shirt and a blue mesh top ! At this stage, I would own a mesh top in every colour of the rainbow if I had the chance, especially black and white ! The shape of this skirt generally makes me feel a little uncomfortable which is why I always wear tops over it at full-length but it's not healthy to be constantly worrying over how one particular part of one's body looks in a piece of clothing so I said "screw it" and rolled the tee up.

The film watched, in question, was X-Men which was quite great and funny ! Events since then have included revision, more revision and surviving the awards ceremony in unusually warm weather. The Sixth Years and Transition Years in our school finished up today which is quite terrifying as tomorrow morning we move over from fifth year bench to sixth year bench and at that stage, I'll come to the realisation that next year is apparently an important year and perhaps begin to threaten to drop out !

Speckled Maroon

Currently listening to : In Between Days

On Saturday, my friends and I went to see the most recent Captain America film which was bloody amazing bar that shift between Steve and Peggy Carter's niece - what was that ! Highlights of the film include Wanda - who really stole the film for me-, Spiderman and both the brilliant fight scenes sarcastic interactions, as always. Also, Ant Man ! I never went to see the film so when he popped up on the screen, my initial verbal reaction was "OHMYGOD PAUL RUDD IS IN THIS" only to be reminded that yes, that is Paul Rudd. Yes, he is Ant Man. Cue a face palm on my behalf.

It was a gorgeous day, as I raved about in my previous post, although it often turned a little chilly so it was an outing for the leather jacket ! I felt so summery and comfy in my outfit, it was brilliant ! I wore this maxi dress for my confirmation (throwback to when I was religious, wow.) four years ago and it still fits ! Okay, so it may be reaching above the ankles due to the little growth that I have done in the past few years but still ! Brilliant ! This dress goes with almost every top I own and the material is also quite handy since it is one that is not too heavy nor too light ! My top, which I've been waiting to wear since I bought it over Easter, was found in Oxfam and it is one of the best items that I have spent four quid on ! Speaking of thrifting, I watched a documentary on Netflix called "The True Cost" which is about the impact that fast fashion is having on both humans and the planet. It is such an amazing and insightful documentary - take ninety minutes out of your day and watch it ! For quite a while, I have been slowly turning away from fashion fashion but after watching this documentary, I have grown even more horrified by the industry that millions of us around the world continuously support, despite the way that it continues to deny human rights, pollute our planet and destroy our morals in the Western World. A future blogpost on this topic may be heading your way !

Yesterday, my friends and I carried out a positive sticky note project in our school for the second year in a row which involved cheerful, uplifting messages being written on 2200 sticky notes by twelve of us. These stickies were then stuck onto every locker in the school. It was great fun, although we had even more a negative reaction than last year which is quite ironic in my eyes, when there are positive messages all over the school and all I can hear is people complaining about them. It would be unrealistic to think that even the majority of people would enjoy the project, however the level of annoyance caused by the stickies was a little unexpected !

I'm beginning to sound very, ironically negative so here's to ending the post on a happier note - tomorrow is Friday !

On One Summer Dusk

Currently listening to : Forever Dumb | Freaks

Sunday, Thursday and yesterday and sort of today (with slightly cooler temperatures.), a heatwave graced Ireland with its presence ! By a heatwave, I mean a temperature over fifteen degrees Celsius. That is what we refer to as a heatwave on the Emerald Isle. Due to this unusual weather of course, every excuse has had to be made to spend any amount of time outside. That includes studying in the sun (surprisingly effective.), eating outside and of course, taking a heap of photographs of the outdoors in this magnificent weather ! The photos above are from Sunday evening.

Thursday evening was equally as - if not more - gorgeous so I felt the need to procrastinate on revision and instead, take all three cameras outside. All three being mam's camera (the one that captures these pictures.), my digital (used for videoing.) and disposable ! I really cannot wait for the holidays to come around for the sole reason that I'll have so much more time to venture outside my garden and snap more photographs of different places and people !

Golden hour, sunset and dusk all make up my favourite time of day, especially during the summer. Yesterday whilst walking back from the cinema with two friends, there was the most amazing scenery as the strong sphere of yellow shone and glistened through the greenery in the blue sky. The weather was so so gorgeous - I feel as if I must have described it as that more than numerous times ! I do prefer sunrise occasionally, and there's something moving about sunrise during the summer, probably since it's a rarity to see one at that time unless you're an early riser !

And another week of school commences,

Red Sunshine

Currently listening to : Cult Leader | All Alone | Nonagon Infinity | In My Head

These photos are from Monday - the may bank holiday - when I came to the conclusion that it might be a good idea to leave the house at some stage over the weekend. I'm not too good when it comes to leaving the house on weekends nowadays ! I stay out on a Friday afternoon and then proceed to spend the rest of the weekend in bed, contemplating whether or not I should cease procrastinating and get some homework out of the way. Despite summer exams being a few weeks away, lying in bed wins every time.

I'd had the idea of this outfit in my head for a few days and didn't think it would look nice together considering the style and clashing colours of the t-shirt and dress (for the record, my wacky outfit ideas usually result in me getting changed into something that matches more and me feeling disappointed !) but lo and behold, the combination was not the worst that I'd ever put together and I paired up my flannel and a few necklaces to finish everything off. I've really grown to love flowing, slip-like, midi, pleate and chiffon dresses and skirts again lately. I keep thinking of how great they'd look with sloppy tees, band tees, mesh tops and then I saw these skirts on the New Look websitee and at that stage I'd decided to wear this dress again ! It's very much of a shift // slip shape which as much as it is great for hiding my curve in a way (curved back makes many a dress or skirt a nightmare !), it almost feels like it almost pronounces it sometimes  which is why I haven't worn it much (and why I don't wear dresses too often in general.) but the flannel made me feel a little more comfortable in it.

The other reason for my recent rediscovery of midi-skirts is since I re-watched Skins for the *insert extremely long figure here* time. I hadn't watched Generation One (seasons one and two.) through and through in quite a while so that was first on the agenda and this time, I fell in love with Cassie's wardrobe ! Everyone of the characters of Skins's style is very interesting to me although they rarely influence my own style with the obvious exception of Effy. Like a lot of TV series, the wardrobes of the characters do appeal to me, I just wouldn't wear them and therefore don't become as focused on them ! At the moment though, I am really drawn to all of Cassie's outfits and just want to incorporate her style into every outfit I wear ! Particularly her outfits in Season Two Episode Nine and Season One Episode Five. I adore it all !

I never got around to sharing March's playlist (although there is a photo of it somewhere.) but April was such an amazing month in many ways, but especially for finding good music, that I spent a good chunk feeling a great kind of overwhelm because I was finding such good music to listen to week on week - how is this even possible ! I could write over a paragraph on each song, it's brilliance and how many different emotions it made me feel ! But to save myself from future embarrassment and whoever reads this from receiving a bulk of unnecessary synonyms for "ohmygod" "I feel so ecstatic listening to this brilliance", I'm going to try my best to cut it down a little.

I am also a little (okay maybe very.) hyper writing here and about to toss my laptop over because

b. I may have slight (okay, quite a lot of.) writer's block and my thoughts are racing around my brain too fast to write them down

b. I just feel stupidly happy right now

c. my laptop is already battered so

and I realise that there are two "b's" there.
On with the playlist !

First of all, Arsonist's Lullaby is a Hozier song and therefore hauntingly amazing as always and in the same week, I began listening to Circa Waves as they kept popping up in the recommended box on YouTube and T-Shirt Weather made every morning result in feeling as if it was summer and me playing air guitar whilst I get ready since if the song wasn't catchy enough already, there's the riff. Show Me Love is another catchy song and just beautiful in general. Me, Myself and I gets a mention for the single reason that it reminds me of the Fridays of April.

Somebody had mentioned The Weakerthans and even their name sounded like something out of the nineties so I had to look up their stuff and found not one but two songs about a cat ! Two songs about a bloody cat, I kid you not ! Plea From A Cat Named Virtute is not only great because it's about a kitty but it sounds so fun and the lyrics are brilliant too - "Invite the tabby two doors down You can ask your sister if She doesn’t bring her basset hound" !!! Like I said, there's two songs, meaning that there is a follow up - Virtute The Cat Explains Her Departure - which I am yet to listen to !

I also listened to some songs with music videos are bonkers (and therefore making the song even greater than it already was.) including Mind Mischief by Tame Impala - a band that I've been listening to too much lately - which reminded me of The Beatles song She's Leaving Home (another song I listened to quite a lot this month, actually.) . The bass towards the end of this song is glorious ! Also, Hot Wax by King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard - another band with a unique name and similar music, getting a lot of seventies psychedelic rock vibes ! Acid Rain is another song that gets a mention for having a music video that matches the wondrous of the song itself. Everything about it from the setting to the dancing is more than magical ! I don't listen to an awful lot of electronic music but Lorn's is just amazing and makes me feel so many different things and in quite an eerily peaceful way too. Cherry Moon is another one worth a listen to !

I listened to more Catfish and The Bottlemen this month and Rango has become one of my favourite songs, having some kind of ecstatic feel attached to it ! Towards the end of this month I also found an Irish band Funeral Suits who's music is pretty brilliant - All Those Friendly People being my favourite at the moment as I feel very spontaneous when listening to it. The lyrics are brilliant, hence me screaming the song in my head "I am young and I am naive Tell me something I will believe" and "Shine, shine, like the sun Spread your warmth through the everyone" and "Smile, smile if you can If you can't, I'll understand" it's such a happy song !

I will probably be back at some stage during the week with today's outfit after I cry a few streams over schoolwork !
